It was a busy week for the Crosby’s.
For me, I completed week 2 of my training. That concluded with a 5 mile run Saturday morning. Wednesday’s run was 3 miles followed by 6 hill repeats. Monday’s was a lite 2 miles. Upping the mileage feels good. Hitting my goals feels good. Checking off the boxes feels good.
Having a more disciplined training schedule has started to make me far more aware of my nutritional habits than ever before. The morning after eating too much or an overly unhealthy meal has such a notable impact on how I feel trying to attain miles. I am not saying we can’t indulge periodically and enjoy ourselves and our food, I am saying that the correlation cannot be ignores. And I always knew it existed, but this new discipline and schedule highlights it for me. It also screams at me in the first 10 minutes of the run.

But this past week was not only punctuated with my runs. My wife and I have been planning to work on our bathroom for months. We planned it out and had my awesome in-laws take the kids for two days so we could knock most of it out. My morning run today was directly impacted by that effort!
The old tile floor refused to come up. It took me 6 hours with a power chisel to release the tile of a mere 20+ sq. foot bathroom. Lots of squatting, bending over, kneeling down, standing up, and repeating. To quote myself last night, “shit, my squatting muscles are broken!” BUT, with effort comes reward. We are so close to being done the room and it looks great.

Finally, an update on nutrition and weight. As I continue to struggle with slow weight gain, I have sought the help of external forces. Through my health insurance, I am eligible for a health program that connects you with a health coach through an app… free of charge. It has weekly lessons, tracking, and the ability to interface with a coach to help support and keep accountability. I thought, what do I have to lose. May as well try it! So that started yesterday. I am excited and am writing it all down! We shall see how it goes.
This next week will have more of the same. Running, walking, working, and some yard work. I am optimistic to see how my training goes, so I will see you out there!
Bathroom looks great. I’m getting ready to re-do mine as well. Been looking at, and taking pictures, of the displays in the stores. I’m hoping to get it done sometime in the new year.
